We are looking for a highly motivated engineer who truly believes in security as a first principle. Companies have talked for years about a future of "connected cars." We are looking for a highly motivated engineer specializing in security and detection to defend Tesla’s information, infrastructure and products. The platform you help us build, protect and inspect will scale novel functionality to millions of Tesla devices and users.

What You’ll Do

• Design, Implement,  Improve, manage, and automate Tesla’s monitoring, detection, and incident response capabilities
• Build new signals and automate the detection and response to threats at scale
• Work with our offensive security team to detect and stop cutting edge threats
• Work with our Incident Response team to pioneer a framework responsible for detecting and responding to incidents in vehicle backend systems
• Stay up to date on modern attack techniques to continually integrate knowledge into new detections.
•  Implement ideas to build the new signals and automate the detection and response to threats at scale
•  Introduce new controls into the infrastructure platform that improves our defense in depth
• Lead engineering teams in developing secure systems contributing to the spread of secure patterns and practices
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver widely impactful security initiatives

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS, CE, EE or the equivalent in experience
• Understanding and experience in security domains such as intrusion detection, incident response, malware analysis, application security, etc.
• Cloud Security knowledge, need to have understanding/experience with Kubernetes
• Breadth of technical experience across various infrastructure and security areas and running in large production environments
• Deep understanding of mobile & web application security threats, exploits, prevention
• Proficiency in networking concepts (firewalls, load balancers, etc)
• Strong belief in acquiring and spreading knowledge through mentorship and acting like an owner
• Practical knowledge of applied cryptography and common attacks against modern cryptographic algorithms (encryption at rest, TLS, hashing, etc)
• Experience with Go, Ruby, Python
• Basic understanding of the Security automation (SOAR) principles is a plus

Expected Compensation

$88,000 - $318,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
