Database Engineer/Sr. Database Engineer

Role:

Level: Based on level of experience. Database Engineering, Senior Database Engineering (L6 or L7)

Location: Ideal locations are Salesforce Security Hubs: Herndon, VA, Reston, VA and San Francisco, CA.

Your Impact:

  • Actively participate in database automation and feature enhancement on premise and in Public cloud platform.
  • Design and development of the core database infrastructure and functionalities
  • Come up with innovative ideas to improve performance, scalability and resilience in a large-scale platform
  • Implement comprehensive functional and system-test for your area of responsibility and for overall database quality
  • Debug, conduct root cause analysis, diagnose defects
  • Responsibility and accountability for the availability and reliability of all Production Databases.
  • Working with other Engineering teams to triage issues.
  • Perform sophisticated root cause Analysis of problems and subsequently, make and implement recommendations to prevent future occurrences or customer impact.
  • Define, develop and deploy system monitoring requirements/thresholds as well as corrective actions. Improve the system reliability via predictive analysis.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and enhance automation to optimally own the platform infrastructure.
  • Designing, scaling out services in our multi-tenant infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with and provide detailed feedback to internal/External Database cloud stakeholders on resiliency initiatives.
  • To participate in production Incident Management / Customer concern calls and be able to drive the incident to resolution.
  • Provides technical and platform support to multiple customers and partners that use the production systems.

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen (U.S. born or naturalized) who does not hold dual citizenship. You agree to complete a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) for a Moderate Public Trust position with the U.S. federal government or other clearances as deemed appropriate for the role.
  • A related technical degree required
  • Experience with developing automation to serve database operation efficiency.
  • Experience developing database automation frameworks for sophisticated systems in AWS
  • Experience in scaling sophisticated relational database systems in AWS
  • Experience with developing database tooling, data pipeline and sophisticated database automation
  • Experience in High-performance, low-latency, high-availability (99.99%) and self-recoverable systems
  • Strong Programming Languages skill in one or more of the following: Ruby, Python, Java, Go, Shell, JavaScript
  • Experience supporting a high-performance large-scale platform in public cloud
  • Perform basic DBA tasks in Production and Staging environments.
  • Experience in a Linux cloud environment with fluency in command line interfaces and shell scripting Bash, Shell
  • Experience in PL/SQL development and optimization
  • Develop scalable, resilient and fault tolerant transactional and distributed systems
  • Ability to support/resolve production issue with excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in working in a 24/7 team managing large cloud environments and willingness to participate in on-call rotation
  • Have a passion for working together as a team and ensuring team success
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and Kubernetes
  • Experience building a high-performance large-scale platform in public cloud
  • Prior experience Deploying database on EC2 in AWS
  • Experience with AWS SAM continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tasks for serverless applications/infrastructure
  • Exposure to Oracle High Availability features such as RAC, Data guard.

Qualification for this job is contingent upon acceptable results from a background investigation as well as your obtaining and maintaining the specific level of U.S. Government security clearance required for this role. U.S. citizenship (U.S. born or naturalized) required.
