Wondery is looking for a Senior Account Executive to lead our rapidly growing business within the Automotive vertical, reporting to the Head of Revenue of Wondery. This is an exciting time to join a fast-growing company in an emerging new media space, and in a role leading a priority business category that has the potential to make a real impact.

This person will work closely with the Head of Revenue, Sr. Manager of Ad Sales, and other Wondery team members to establish Wondery as the leading global podcast ad network. This role is a critical member of the Sales Team, focused on using deep relationships and industry research to make decisions that will help us scale our revenue, build multi-channel programs, and customer-driven innovation in a global growth environment.

The ideal candidate will have previously held a similar role in a structured sales organization, ideally at a media company, or related media brand, and have a passion for selling integrated advertising solutions to T1 & T2 automotive clients, and their ad agencies, to successfully grow and scale the category’s domestic revenues. With deep and long-standing client-side and agency relationships within the automotive space, a well-honed consultative sales approach, and deep understanding of the podcasting landscape, the ideal candidate will act as a strategic partner to their assigned clients and agencies to ensure that all business goals are met.

Responsibilities include:

• Building account relationships and generating revenue by establishing trust and being a recognized expert in the automotive category

• Lead calls and meetings to uncover needs, provide updates, structure campaign proposals, negotiate contracts, and receive project feedback

• Continually develop quality and quantity of opportunities needed to achieve category goals, providing regular funnel activity/updates

• Achieve monthly KPIs, including but not limited to pre-determined number of face-to -face customer presentations, quotas and wins

• Supports the gathering of any required assets, documentation, and data from clients and other sources

• Manages client projects from beginning to end and works with internal teams on timelines, internal and external communication, resources, and deliverables; delivers project timelines to clients and proactively keeps documentation and project management software updated

• Creates quotes and proposals for new projects; Builds project budgets and statements of work

• Cultivates and seeks new opportunities within current clients and agencies; prospects new clients and assists in the creation and delivery of pitches

• Reviews all assigned work to ensure quality control and the achievement of the finalized goal

• Manages project finances ensuring accountant has all necessary information for billing and invoicing

  • Experience building new customer relationships
  • 4+ years of B2B sales experience

• Experience with Automotive category sales at a media company, with a strong emphasis on T1 client consultation with Detroit-based domestic brands

• Bring well established and high-level client-side and media agency relationships

• Experience with automotive marketing, audio or other media sales

• Experience with negotiation and relationship building skills with sales teams (and ideally with content creators, agencies and brands)

• Prior knowledge and or experience solving problems in an analytical environment; ability to craft and leverage data and analytics to drive strategy and results


• C-Level sales experience

• Experience selling through large scale audio programs to T1 & T2 automotive brands

• Podcast & video sales experience

• Able to thrive in a highly dynamic, rapidly changing environment

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work cross-functionally and with a wide range of employees with different skill sets

• Able to utilize sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar
