The Lead UX Writ is a superb writer experienced in developing a language strategy across multiple digital touchpoints. They understand the right tone of voice that successfully engages, informs, and delights both B2C and B2B audiences and has developed several brand guidelines with strong affordances on how to tailor the content.

In addition to developing brand standards that other writers, designers, developers, and partners will follow, the Lead Copywriter also has experience leading projects through all phases of development including research, concepting, prototyping, testing, and production. Their content strategy is based on user research, data-driven insights, and understanding of what content works best for which channel. They possess creative vision, love storytelling, and the ability to see the big picture.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and ideates content goals for highly complex projects across multiple platforms
  • Writing original short- and long-form content that maintains brand consistency across all channels
  • Reviews and evaluates content for compliance with brand guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve quality and user comprehension
  • Leads a project team of other writers including internal and outsourced partners to develop informative and engaging content for B2C and B2B audiences
  • Applies seasoned knowledge to solve industry-related topics and identify gaps in our content
  • Edit and fact-check pieces of content generated by colleagues and mentor less experienced copywriters including industry best practices and leadership
  • Liaise with designers to enrich text with visual aids such as images and charts
  • Shape language and tone of voice tailored specifically toward a target audience

Education and Experience Required:

Four-year degree in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or relevant field such as Psychology, Human Computer Interaction or equivalent and a minimum of 10 to 12 years of related experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives
  • May provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced copywriters
  • Encounters complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors
  • Connects the dots with other programs, projects, and business objectives
  • Portfolio of published articles
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to write creative copy both for large pieces of content (e.g. product descriptions) and smaller texts (e.g. headlines)
  • Solid time-management skills
  • Basic keyword search knowledge
