Software Product Management Director

 

THE ROLE: 

AMD is searching for a proven product leader with significant experience in the AI/ML market, deep understanding of software developer tools, and a track record of successfully defining and delivering software solutions to market.  

 

As the Software Product Management Director in AMD’s Data Center GPU business group, you will be responsible for driving the software strategy, defining software requirements, and partnering with internal development teams and ecosystem partners to deliver complete solutions that enable HPC and AI/machine learning workloads on AMD Data Center accelerators. You will also lead a team of software product managers, ultimately owning the planning, execution, positioning, and launch of our CDNA Accelerator software roadmap.  

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate is a dynamic team leader who has successfully led AI focused software product teams to define and drive an AI platform strategy, requirements, and roadmap. The candidate will have the technical depth and business experience to clearly articulate the rationale for the strategy and investments that she/he is recommending. This person will work collaboratively with product leadership, engineering, business development, product marketing and other teams to build and execute on a software strategy focused on winning new customer segments and growing existing customer segments for the long term. In addition, as the software product management leader for the AMD Instinct business, this person must work with a cross-AMD team to prioritize features and specifications while ensuring release goals and commitments are delivered to customers. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Drive software strategy, roadmap definition, requirements prioritization and execution of the Instinct GPU software stack to support the development of data center applications 
  • Engage with key architects, engineering, and business partners to drive actions to ease deployment, programmability, and usability of AMD Instinct GPUs for HPC & AI workloads
  • Partner with key leaders across AMD and the ecosystem to strengthen the AMD Instinct software ecosystem to meet the growing demand for vertical and segment-specific solutions
  • Build the foundation of a strong software product management organization via managing and growing the team of Product Managers with your vision, leadership, work ethic, and humility
  • Maintain relationships with external open source communities

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & BEHAVIORS: 

  • 10+ years of product management experience in Software, Developer Tools, or Data Center Solutions
  • Strong background of the AI software ecosystem and requirements is a must-have
  • Experience leading Cloud/XaaS (X-as-a-Service) technology platforms and managed services.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs, lead multiple initiatives, and engage at all executive levels both inside AMD and with partners
  • Ability to distill technical and market data to identify, articulate, and drive the key software investments required to meet the goals of the AMD Instinct GPU business
  • Create an inclusive, open, and diverse environment where everyone can be successful and can contribute at a high level
  • Critical thinking, active listening, and great interpersonal skills

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Science or Engineering or Business University degree required 
  • MBA preferred
