What to Expect


Tesla’s Finance team combines traditional financial planning and analysis with broader business decision-making and strategy, directly supporting Tesla’s leadership. Finance is embedded in daily operations, supporting both near-term execution and long-term planning. Team members are expected to analyze data and provide recommendations and to lead cross-functional decision-making and implementation of the recommendations. This position supports the rapidly growing Tesla Insurance business and is located primarily at the Tesla Factory in Fremont, CA.

What You’ll Do

Duties are assigned and prioritized based upon the company’s needs and include:

  • Analyzing key performance indicators, especially revenue, costs, and cash flow (includes developing financial models and decision-making tools)
  • Providing strategic insights and conclusions based on this analysis
  • Guiding planning and resource management (e.g., headcount, investment approvals, etc.) for specific verticals within Tesla, including development of financial forecasts
  • Identifying initiatives for improvement of Tesla’s financial outlook, including developing, tracking, and executing business initiatives with Tesla’s leadership
  • Consolidate inputs on business activities and develop financial projections on a STAT, GAAP, and non-GAAP basis; maintain projections and track actual financial performance against plan
  • Design reporting tools and dashboards to enhance visibility into the health of the business; evaluate financial and operational metrics and provide meaningful analysis to leadership
  • Track, report, and proactively drive down the cost of our products with a focus on establishing and attaining cost targets

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business required and/or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of exceptional ability
  • CPA or other relevant degrees are a plus
  • Demonstrated success working in an ambiguous environment and driving positive change to produce solid financial results
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements
  • Excellent modeling skills (e.g. Microsoft Office applications)
  • Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, and execution focused
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly to senior leadership
  • Highly collaborative, team oriented, and comfortable leading cross-functional projects
  • Insurance background preferred
