Infrastructure Architecture is a multifaceted team delivering and supporting Salesforce infrastructure to meet the meaningful growth needs of the business. We are looking for passionate Network Engineers who are fascinated by the technologies behind the Internet, data centers and cloud computing. The team is crucial to the design & deployment of a consistent, stable infrastructure that both meets network engineering design standards and product goals. In addition to fundamental networking skills, engineers are preferred to have additional Linux experience and a background in network automation. Our team believes that automation is key to building and maintaining a global network.


Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possessing strong project management and time leadership skills. The candidate will be responsible for several projects at a time, providing regular status updates and identifying and pushing through obstacles. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is considered crucial.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the team, your core job responsibility will be to envision, design, build, and iterate network solutions in data centers, and out into the backbone and beyond.
  • Evaluate new products and technologies released by vendors for engineering consideration into data center / backbone architecture.
  • Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
  • Execute on new product & software testing to ensure seamless introduction into our production environments
  • Design and document solutions for network challenges, gathering consensus from stakeholders.
  • Work closely with our automation teams to allow us to scale at an outstanding volume.
  • Work cooperatively with networking, infrastructure, project management, and sourcing teams to deliver end to end documentation on how we purchase, build, deploy, maintain, and decommission solutions.
  • Open to Fully Remote, Flex (1-3 days/week in the office), or Office-Based (4-5 days/week in office)
  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available

Basic Qualifications

  • Data Center Infrastructure experience with experience in routing, switching and load-balancing technology.
  • Experience designing, building, and troubleshooting IP networks and protocols, including BGP, ISIS, OSPF.
  • Experience with major routing/switching platforms, such as Cisco: ASR/Nexus and Juniper, MX/E.
  • Strong networking background including experience working with telecommunications vendors.
  • A related technical degree required.
  • Highly autonomous, very detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with F5 LTM and GTM.
  • Knowledge of overlay and virtual networking design and protocols.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Ansible, Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation, etc.
  • Unix/Linux skills and experience scripting in at least one language such as Python, Perl, Golang, and/or Shell.
  • Practitioner-level network automation skills using DevOps and CI/CD pipeline practices.
  • Experience with public cloud networks, such as AWS or Azure.
