Job Description:

The Product Manager is Customer/Market facing role, responsible for identifying and continuously validating addressable market opportunities aligned to Broadcom’s Mainframe software strategy, understanding and communicating the voice of the target customer, and combining these to achieve market success through delivering new or improved product or solution offerings. The Product Manager is ultimately responsible for the product strategy and success. This means ensuring long term profitability for the product by providing leadership (and guidance) across multiple functions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain overall product / solution strategy. This includes understanding current and future market needs, our capabilities, competitor capabilities, and the overall product / solution ecosystem.
  • Working closely with Executive, Engineering, Marketing, and the extended Product Management Teams, identify market gaps needing to be addressed, and improve existing or create new products and solutions.
  • With product owners and engineering leadership, develop the engineering roadmap that includes all prioritized requirements.
  • Develop make, buy, or partner plans to fill market requirements.
  • For existing products and solution, ensure we are delivering value to customers continuously.
  • Segment the market to ensure the appropriate (prioritized) market requirements are gathered and understood, and help bring new solutions or capabilities to market.
  • Create the product marketing plan.
  • Create the product sales plans.
  • For new solutions and capabilities, ensure adoption and customer success after the product is sold.

Product Management

  • Conduct continuous market research and assessment activities to ensure the team is aligned to the market opportunities, and react quickly to changing market dynamics.
  • Build customer insights into all stages of the planning and execution process, ensuring the continuous validation of customer needs, features, and stories with customers.

Program Portfolio Management

  • Own Business Epics to define acceptance criteria.
  • Shepherd product deliverables through the Agile development systems.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of the product deliverables with key stakeholders.
  • Own product lifecycle for all features within the release; establish installation, support, upgrade, migration, and end-of-life strategies that balance business goals, technological capabilities, and customer needs.

Continuous Planning

  • Leveraging the Product Owner and senior Engineering team, own the continuing planning process, including preparation and presentation of materials critical to the release planning process.
  • Supervise the continuous planning process, including balancing backlog items at the release level across new capabilities, refactoring, improvement activities, and technical debt reduction.
  • Communicate current business context, including milestones and significant external dependencies.
  • Drive the Product Management team in the early and continuous validation of features and stories with customers, analysts, and customer facing teams to maximize the market value of the software delivered.

Release and Risk Management

  • Drive release management with an eye to scope management, quality, deployment options, release, and market considerations.
  • Manage the ongoing change management as process business and technical scope is adjusted.

Bachelor's + 12+ years of related experience is required.
