Position: Senior Software Engineer

Job Location: 16535 Via Esprillo, San Diego, CA 92127 (telecommuting permitted from any location in the US)


  • Develop prototype and product software for Sony digital television products which require comprehensive technical analyses involving power electronics (the application of solid-state electronics to the control and conversion of electric power)
  • Develop design process for new functionality for products
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements
  • Perform engineering analyses for requirement capturing, product specifications, architecture design, software module design and development for digital media processing, test case design, and product verification
  • Analyze, design, and develop source codes and scripts for Sony televisions that work seamlessly with Android applications involving digital media processing.

Minimum education required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum experience required: Any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.

Skills required: Android-related programming in Java, Kotlin, or a command line tool with shell

Lifecycle application development (library implementation, thread handling or dependency injection skills)

TCP/UDP network protocol data transfer analysis

Android Profiler and Android Debug Bridge for operations or analysis

System automation with Jenkins or testing framework such as Robolectric or Espresso

Digital Rights Management (DRM) configuration with Secure Socket Layer (SSL)

Software project modularization or SDK integration

Expertise in Exoplayer

Experience in compatibility of different Android OS versions or devices

Understand long-term dual platform mobile development (Android and iOS)

Hands-on experience on iOS projects with iOS development tools

Able to handle future iOS development requests

Understand limitations or pitfalls with releasing experience on Android/Google Play Store
