As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) on the AWS Security team, you will work in tandem with security engineers and data scientists to identify innovative solutions that scale with the AWS cloud to advanced security problems. You will lead development efforts, operate and engineer systems on a massive scale, and gain top-notch experience in cloud computing. Along the way, you will learn a ton, have fun, and make a huge impact.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and develop new services or features
  • Write high quality software
  • Bug fixes for existing services or features
  • Identify bottlenecks and scale services
  • Review code from peers
  • Mentor junior developers on the team
  • Collaborate with customers and help drive business decisions with technical input
  • Participate in agile activities such as stand-up, grooming, planning, demo, and retro


  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 1+ years of experience in software development


  • BS or MS in a STEM related field
  • 1+ year of software development experience with at least one modern language such as C, C++, C#, Java, Go, TypeScript or Python
  • 1+ year understanding of algorithms, data structures, and databases
