Job summary

Amazon manages the flow of billions of items of inventory on a daily basis, as the inventory moves through our physical network, eventually reaching the customer's door.

We leverage and build technologies to do this with accuracy, speed, and with the highest quality. We operate at a nexus of machine learning, computer vision, robotics, operations research, and user experience, to provide Amazon's fulfillment network with cutting-edge software to solve large-scale operational problems related to inventory quality management.

The Team:

Visual Bin Inspection (VBI) is a critical component of Inventory Entropy Management Technologies in AFT. It's mission is to automate inventory quality decisions using computer vision and machine learning models combined with the data inflow from hardware sensors for Amazon Customer Fulfillment. This is a cross functional team of engineers interacting with scientists, product managers and hardware research engineers to deliver for the larger Quality Control automation vision across Amazon Fulfillment Centers.

VBI is one of the foundational pieces that enables research teams to develop computer vision based solutions and allows customers to pull reference image sets for decision making. We deploy and manage hardware sensors in fulfillment centers and make this data available for quality audits of inventory.

  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.
  • 1+ years of experience in software development
  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • In-depth knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures & algorithms, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Knowledge of, at least, two or more modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, Perl or Python


  • Experience with technologies like DynamoDB, Redshift, SageMaker, Lambda.
  • Experience with Python is a plus.
  • Experience building complex software systems with a strong focus on operational excellence that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
  • You build the right product for your customers and take pride on delivering.
