If you can answer “yes” to these questions, then AWS is the place for you as we’re seeking an experienced leader to be the Sr. HR Leader for our Commerce Platform business, one of the largest organizations in Platform services that touches all AWS customers in critical areas such as Billing, Payments, Fraud, Insights and International Expansion. These orgs comprise technical roles such as Software Development Engineers, Technical Product Managers, Risk Management, and Operations spread across five countries and multiple domestic locations.

We are seeking a senior leader who is inherently curious, thinks big, earns trust with diverse stakeholders, and is comfortable taking calculated risks and implementing innovative solutions. A passion for delivering excellent builder experiences through a strong focus on culture, organizational effectiveness, growing talent, and delivering on Amazon’s vision to be Earth’s Best Employer is imperative, and a knack for inventing and simplifying with a bias for action are also requirements for success in this role. We require a leader with vision who enjoys challenging the status quo, and track record of success achieved through engaging leadership and collaborating across multiple HR stakeholders, and shows up every day to work hard, have fun, and make history.

This individual will need to understand what it takes to move a successful, rapidly growing organization from good to great, and work creatively and strategically while rolling up their sleeves to act tactically when necessary. Success will require an aptitude to dive deep and analyze data to develop meaningful insights and conclusions, and to be able to present clearly and with purpose to the relevant audience. High judgment will be essential when data-sets are incomplete and/or it’s necessary to make a quick decision with the best information available.

This leader will be an inspiring individual who can deliver results primarily through indirect resources; somebody who is excited to play their part in making Amazon and AWS earth's best employer.

Given where the supported businesses are located this position will likely be best suited for somebody in the Pacific time zones, most preferably in Vancouver or Seattle.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

  • The ability to design organization-wide talent plans that help drive high growth and scale the business through people.
  • Experience facilitating change management within a rapid and complex changing work environment.
  • Ability to interface, coach and mentor at the most senior levels in the organization while staying close to organizational health at all levels through frequent review of business and people metrics.
  • Skilled at facilitating senior leader talent reviews to effectively calibrate performance, promotions and support the development and retention of a diverse workforce.
  • The ability to drive innovative thinking at a high level with the understanding how to operationally execute those ideas.
  • Strong solutions focus and comfort working in an ambiguous environment which demands high-impact deliverables.
  • Experience leading HRBPs and ability to influence broader HR team members without direct authority to drive the people agenda.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field (or equivalent).
  • 12+ years of experience in progressive HR leadership roles, including at least five in HR Business Partner roles influencing senior executives.
  • 2+ years leading HR Business Partners
  • 2+ years HRBP experience in a corporate and/or high-tech environment, ideally software engineering.
  • Able to travel domestically and globally, as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • 4+ HRBP experience in a high-tech environment, specifically software engineering.
  • Proficient in working in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Highly skilled in change management.
  • Experience in working across multiple continents and comfortable in working with people of diverse cultures, experiences and/or perspectives.
