Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Developing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience developing, delivering, and/or operating business software

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience speaking at technology conferences, blogging/writing technical articles, or contributing to open source projects
  • Experience interfacing with customers including technical practitioners, managers, department heads, and executives
  • Experience helping develop and grow collaborative and inclusive teams
  • Experience with infrastructure such as code, software delivery pipelines, and monitoring production environments
  • Ability to work globally and collaboratively in a team environment and to influence technical practitioners, stakeholders, and globally distributed teams

The Customer Advocacy team is made up of technical practitioners with experience building, deploying, and operating applications in Google Cloud. We inspire, educate, and enable customers to transform the way they achieve their technology-enabled business goals. We improve teams' capabilities, allowing them to experience the benefits of using Google Cloud.

The Cloud Developer Relations team consists of members from a wide range of technology roles including Software Developers, Data Scientists and Developers, Machine Learning Scientists, System Administrators, Site Reliability Developer, and Cloud Developers who combine their domain expertise with a desire to help Google Cloud build products and solutions that are important to their own communities and that solve their problems in simple, scalable, and innovative ways.

As a Cloud Developer Relations Specialist, you will build narratives and experiences that connect Google Cloud products and services to the principles, practices, and capabilities that drive reliable software delivery and operations performance. You will guide and amplify practitioner-led organizational transformation with teams working for Google Cloud customers.


  • Participate in Developer Operations, Site Reliability Developing, security, and/or programming language communities as a direct practitioner.
  • Work with research, product, and developing teams on product strategies and narratives around new products and features.
  • Provide technical contributions in the form of open source software, product enhancements, and product design. Coach teams on improving their reliable software delivery and operations performance.
  • Create original content to inspire usage of Google Cloud leading to more reliable software delivery and operations performance.
  • Advocate for practitioners internally and influence Google Cloud product strategy by working with Product Management, Developing, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams.
