Hardware Reliability Developer, Augmented Reality
Minimum qualifications:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electric Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Physics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience as a reliability or hardware engineer within consumer hardware.
- Experience with statistical analysis using tools, such as Weibull++ and JMP, and with accelerated test models.
Preferred qualifications:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline or relevant industry experience.
- 2 years of experience in developing reliability test plans against product metrics.
- 2 years of experience in bringing up test infrastructure to support in-house testing.
- Experience in applying design for reliability techniques, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
About the job
The Reliability Engineering team works on consumer electronic devices to identify and correct product design weaknesses, preventing field issues associated with hardware designs. This position works on predicting and preventing failure modes over the life of a product and ensure a low field failure rate. Using Design For Reliability (DFR) methods we strive to influence and drive robust design principles. This role is a very cross-functional and collaborative position.
Responsibilities
- Understand technology driving various NTI modules, develop reliability tests, and requirements to bring out design weaknesses of Subsystems and Assemblies.
- Develop acceleration models and accelerated tests.
- Establish and drive DFR (Design for Reliability) activities such as FTA and DFMEA, and design and apply DOE's (Design Of experiments).
- Translate test results into meaningful product life metrics and highlight shortcomings on any metrics not met.
- Collaborate and work synergistically with external vendors and internal product design, quality engineers, and Failure Analysis teams to de-risk, drive root cause, and implement necessary corrective actions.
