Frame.io, an Adobe Company, is changing the future of how videos are made by helping over 1 million creative professionals seamlessly collaborate from all over the world.

Engineering at Frame.io is about more than just writing code - it's crafting products that inspire creativity and allow our users to do great work. We care deeply about how our products are built, how they look, how they feel, and how they function.

We are looking for a software engineer with a passion for video playback technology to join the Media Service team. In this role, you'll help us build the future of media workflows and optimized video playback experiences. You will lead the development of the HTML5 video player and related components in order to unlock new avenues of creativity for our users.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with product and video backend engineering to define new features and prioritize bugs to improve our video playback experience
  • Write clean, performant, and testable code
  • Be an advocate for best practices in video delivery and playback behavior
  • Work with cloud platform tools (CI/CD, Serverless/K8s, CDN, etc…) to ensure reliability and performance
  • Represent the Media Services team in cross-squad meetings where audio/video playback is relevant
  • Participate in standups, planning meetings, and code reviews (we also use Go, Python, and Elixir)
  • Respond to production issues around media playback
  • Present designs for complex features or architecture changes to stakeholders
  • Be involved in the greater video engineering community
  • Be a great teammate - we create amazing products by working together

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • Experience with large scale web application and javascript development using a framework like React
  • Experience with HTML5 video players and a solid understanding of video and audio codecs, containers, and delivery mechanisms (H.264, AAC, HLS, WebRTC)
  • Experience using cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc…) to build/deploy web apps
  • You are a curious person who enjoys keeping up with the latest video technology and tools
  • Knowledge of advanced and emerging video standards such as HDR10, Dolby Vision, 360 videos or hands on experience with DRM is a plus
