What you’ll be doing…

The Performance Based Certification Program Manager leads the hands-on exam experience, including the delivery method and performance, exam items and associated vendors responsible for developing and maintaining it. You thrive with quickly learning new products and technologies with minimal direction and have a curiosity about translating that knowledge into innovative software-based exam delivery solutions. With direction from Certification team management and in partnership with Content Development and Product Management, you will plan project resources, lead timelines, budget, project issues and risks, supervise project progress, and document and report project metrics, timelines, and results. In addition, you will be responsible for the quality of Tableau Certification exams. Most of this work will be performed by leading vendors so strong organizational and interpersonal skills are vital. You will also be working directly with customers who face technical issues, so customer service skills are a must.

Someone with an expert-level understanding of performance based testing within the IT certification industry, familiarity with cloud based applications, experience with scripting and virtual machines, and an understanding of psychometric theory is vital to be successful in this position.

Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

  • Partner with content development manager to lead hands-on exam content development and maintenance
  • Develop, implement, and refine exam project tools and processes
  • Document around exam tools and processes
  • Develop, coordinate, and communicate authoring governance, exam quality requirements and critical metrics for exam projects
  • Perform item and exam statistical analyses and lead psychometric analysis vendors
  • Plan and implement projects, handling budget, schedules, timelines and dependencies
  • Define, supervise and communicate project scope, goals, tasks, resources and results
  • Partner with localization program manager
  • Define and lead specific timelines to advise exam launches, refreshes, and retirements
  • Lead meetings and set expectations for project team
  • Present to customers on progress as well as problems and solutions
  • Evaluate results of project
  • Manage vendors for hands-on content development and maintenance
  • Lead exam development vendors, ensuring that exam experience meets critical metrics
  • Act as central point of contact and coordination for performance based testing vendors and customers
  • Work to identify the cause of technical issues and hold vendors accountable
  • Own Tableau’s performance based testing experience from an all-up perspective
  • Plan and refine content development and maintenance strategy
  • Manage candidate experience including complaints
  • Investigate and solve performance issues
  • Support testing, diagnosis, and resolution of bugs and improvements
  • Collaborate closely with other professionals in the certification industry to ensure the Tableau Certification Program remains innovative and current
  • Uphold certification standards to ensure the fairness, validity, reliability, relevance, and legal defensibility of Tableau’s certification products
  • Participate in discussions about certification vision, strategy, and assist with execution
  • Participate as a member of the Education Team, which may involve tasks that support the overall goals of the team
  • Find opportunities to improve the performance based testing experience

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of industry-standard content management principles and good operating practices
  • Experience with psychometric analysis and exam and item performance along with an understanding of statistics and related concepts (e.g., normal distributions, p-values, hypothesis testing)
  • Outstanding attention to detail, especially with regards to system performance, version control, statistical performance of scored and unscored items, and exam health
  • Understand “Tableau’s Style and Exam Guidelines” structure, grammar, and formatting
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal, planning, time management communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to explain sophisticated situations in clear terms and work collaboratively in a diverse environment
  • Experience with performance-based exam items, lab environments and item scripting
  • Familiarity with cloud based applications and Tableau products preferred
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in collaboration with teams across the company and with different levels of management
  • Strong great teammate with ability to successfully collaborate with geographically distributed teams
  • Demonstrates a bias for action: ability to initiate new programs, acquire senior management buy-in and support

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • 3+ proven experience in the production of learning and certification content
  • 3+ years of project management experience, demonstrating the ability to drive multiple work streams and projects concurrently
  • Strong skills with Smartsheet or similar project planning software
  • Experience handling vendors and working with teams in a distributed environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years IT certification industry as equivalent experience
  • We are looking for an ITCC/Performance Testing Council member
  • 3+ years process and workflow engineering experience
