The HR Solution Manager is an integral member of the HR Services organization and plays a key role in the delivery of high-quality HR Programs to business leaders, managers, and employees, as well as to the HR Community. This role is accountable for the end-to-end operational solution (people, process and system) for HR programs that are implemented within the HR delivery model. As an expert in a solutions program area, you will partner across multiple HR and business stakeholder groups particularly with HR Programs, HR Services Delivery Teams, HR Privacy, CELA and Engineering. You will design, implement and continue to optimize scalable solutions with service delivery, develop a robust framework to monitor and mature and ensure our HR Services support teams are ready for process, policy and/or program changes to provide our employees with a great experience.


HR Services is critical to the overall effectiveness of the HR experience across Microsoft. HR Services brings the HR support model and experience to the scale of the global Microsoft employee population by providing the platform for end-to-end operational services and employee experiences with responsibilities spanning employee self-service, assisted support, and employee relations. HR Services is responsible for the operational delivery across a broad range of employee life-cycle experiences such as onboarding, performance and development, rewards, talent movement and offboarding. HR Services holds the key accountability for HR privacy, risk and compliance.

Center of Excellence (CoE) Services 

  • Manages the intake and ongoing adoption of Center of Excellence (CoE) programs in a focus area (e.g., Performance & Development) or an assigned business/geography; implements policy, process, and tools; ensures regional perspectives are incorporated into the design and implementation of HR programs in partnership with regional operational managers. 
  • Leads the operation of a Center of Excellence (CoE) program in a focus area or for an assigned business/geography based on established project plans; makes recommendations to support program readiness. 
  • Leads the process of gathering and prioritizing tool and process feedback from key operational stakeholders in partnership with program subject matter experts, vendors, and Engineering partners. 


Project Management 

  • Provides operational, infrastructure, and employee support analysis during planning stages of new project proposals in a focus area; presents analysis results and recommendations to facilitate project management; identifies opportunities to improve services and employee experience; evolves service of the operations team and quality of the projects supported. 
  • Assists the process of requirements gathering for Human Resources (HR) programs; helps identify risks, issues, and barriers in project execution. 
  • Implements project plans and tracks progress and deliverables; contributes insights in project meetings; communicates with relevant stakeholders/project sponsors/steering committee (e.g., business leaders, HR and Engineering partners) about project status and impacts. 


Solution Management 

  • Manages Human Resources (HR) system domains in a focus area as a subject matter expert and monitors system performance, issue prioritization, coordination of system releases, implementation of release management, and readiness for system changes. 
  • Provides business analysis through system telemetry and provides insights for optimization projects to inform business decisions aimed at reducing costs and improving quality. 
  • Drives the system production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by performing analysis, working with Human Resources (HR), Human Resources Business Intelligence (HRBI), and/or Engineering partners (e.g., HR program partners, Payroll, etc.) to ensure that appropriate monitoring (i.e., data telemetry and systems) and maintenance is in place. 
  • Creates plans and assigns resources (internal or external) for business User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes, including writing and executing test scenarios and test cases, generating test data, troubleshooting bugs, confirming resolutions, and signing off on the product system readiness for launch. 


Operational Compliance 

  • Develops business cases; partners with program owners and operations stakeholders for current and future business process documentation to support planning and design stages of new solution development. 
  • Performs and executes audits and risk assessments; reviews Human Resources (HR) compliance risks and trends; makes recommendations to address risks and non-compliance. 
  • Manages responses to data subject requests (DSRs) by handling escalations and providing guidance on compliance to established guidelines and regulations; partners with operational stakeholders to ensure data stewardship (i.e., documentation, classification and compliance); conducts data privacy reviews. 
  • Participates in the design, implementation, and monitoring of preventative and detective internal controls and related processes; partners with Corporate Services Engineering (CSE) to understand Information Technology (IT) interface controls and onboard business data validation controls. 




Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in Human Resources, Engineering, Operations, Compliance, or related field OR Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field AND 5+ years experience in Operations, Compliance, Human Resources, Engineering, or related field.


The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $96,300 and $143,600.


At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
