Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administrate the OBPSW Requirements Project in JAMA
  • Review requirements and technical specifications for clarify and precision of the requirement
  • Ensure project policies and procedures (as defined by Telesat PMO) are implemented correctly
  • Manage flow of documentation, minutes of meetings, and external correspondence for OBPSW design and acceptance reviews (both internal and vendors meetings)
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or Technologist diploma in engineering or relevant discipline with emphasis in communication systems and aerospace systems
  • Degree plus minimum of 2 years (or diploma plus minimum 5 years) direct experience with management of technical requirements and writing technical requirements
  • Direct experience with requirement management tools such as DOORs or JAMA
  • High-level of expertise with Microsoft Office suite; Excel, Project, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Proven success collaborating with cross-functional teams including technology, business development/commercial team, system testing, operation and support
  • Ability to review requirements and guide technical experts on best practices for writing clear and measurable requirements
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to summarize complex problems, solutions and recommendations for diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical vendors, colleagues and management
  • General knowledge of satellite antenna and modem technologies, plus element management best practices
  • Additional experience that would be an asset:
  • PMP experience/Certification
  • Using Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
  • Using Primavera software
  • Python scripting
  • Database Management
  • Fluent in English, written and oral
  • French and other language skills would be an asset

  • Standard laptop or desktop computer system

Decision Making and Supervision

  • Assessing compliance of OBPSW team members documentation for compliance with established policies, procedures and best practices

  • Supervision Exercised
  • No direct supervision responsibilities

Working Conditions

  • General office environments
  • Full-time office or hybrid 60/40 office/remote, subject to work needs
  • Prefer Telesat Ottawa office based, exceptional candidates based from another Telesat location will be considered
  • Occasional travel, including international travel is anticipated
  • Candidate must be ability to obtain relevant security clearance

The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
