Main Responsibilites

  • Prepare detailed Engineering documents in AutoCAD based on sketches and information provided by the Engineer of record; Civil, Electrical, Structural and Electronic Schematic (Network and Block and Level) Diagrams
  • Prepare steel fabrication drawings based on Engineers direction
  • Interpret Engineering drawings (structural, electrical, electronics) and prepare Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Maintain document records for all Telesat site(s) that are assigned to you
  • Maintain document repositories for equipment manuals and installation documentation for equipment
  • Provide support for various Engineering teams and Operations teams Work closely with engineers, project managers and other team members to ensure coordination of design effort
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule • Adhere to the corporate guidelines and applies them in their work
  • Other duties as assigned 

Education & Experience Required

  • 2-5 years of working experience
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to prioritize tasks, perform on multiple assignments concurrently, and function in a high‐demand and fast‐paced environment
  • Technical Degree in drafting or equivalent relevant work experience
  • OACETT membership or CET/C.Tech designation considered an asset
  • Highly proficient with AutoDesk AutoCAD, working in both 2D and 3D planes
  • Experience reading and interrupting Architectural, Civil, Electrical, Structural and Electronics drawings
  • Candidate shall be detail oriented to be able to develop detailed drawings such as those required for Civil, Electrical, Structural and Electronic Schematic (Network and Block and Level) Diagrams as well as Network Combiners and Waveguide layout drawings.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Experience with FileMaker Pro will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of satellite ground systems is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (English and French; written and spoken) is considered an asset
  • Candidate shall be organized in nature and to be able to maintain records and as-built documentation for multiple projects
  • Understanding of the buildings and infrastructure construction process will be considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, technical writing ability, organizational skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and time management
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and be able obtain and hold Top Secret Level clearance 

Decision Making

  • Candidate will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidate will receive work from various team member for the assigned project(s).
  • Recommend to other team solutions for the challenges brought forth in the project assigned.
  • Prioritize work assigned and where not feasible, speak with the manager.

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are generally typical of an office environment
  • Occasional domestic and international travel is anticipated. Candidate must maintain up-to-date passport
